This is Domonique. She is a fellow blogger and we love her joy and passion. Her smiles and laughs are infectious. We recently connected with her as we were the winners of her St. Augustine Night of Lights giveaway. She is a dialysis social worker with Fresenius in the Jacksonville area and a single mother of two little girls. She has always been a supportive person who has wanted to help others understand social justice and their worth. She has worked as a therapist alongside Department of Children and Families managing child abuse and neglect cases. Also, she’s worked with Catholic Charities helping people with rent and utilities. She started her food and travel blog as self-care. She needed to find a hobby outside of work and being a mother. She didn’t have many friends that lived in her area, so she didn’t have a social life. She felt that starting the blog was one of the best decisions that she has made. Now, her spare time consists of trying food at new restaurants, spending time with fellow bloggers, establishing connections with new people and going to cool events around Jacksonville. She had no idea how much fun she would have doing this.
Her passion is her work. She loves what she does and the support that she is able to provide to various people through social work. She finds it fulfilling and feels like she can help spread positivity and self-growth in the world. Her personal interests are food and travel. One of the best parts about food is that it creates opportunities for memories and company. There is nothing like delicious food and having an awesome memory that goes along with it. She also has never felt more free than when she is traveling. She loves seeing new places and immersing herself in the culture. She feels very blessed to be able to share that with other people and her daughters.
Her journey is all about building and sustaining self-worth and happiness. She told us that you should never let someone or something have complete control of your happiness. It’s inevitable that you give control of your happiness to someone or something and there is nothing wrong with that. But, she told us that you should keep an ounce of control to yourself. So, without them or it you know who you are and still can find happiness.
We love Domonique and her heart for others. To connect with Domonique, find her on Instagram at @food_less_travelled.
